| Why? |
It all started 10 years ago...
For many years I performed one of my favorite card routines, where the deck changed from a standard blue deck to a deck with 52 different backs.
There was one problem, everytime I did it I could tell that even though I fooled the audience, they were aware that I switched the deck somewhere along the line. After all it was obviously not the same cards, some had beer logos, some casino names, others, smiley faces! |
| I noticed that when I just changed the deck from blue to red, it seemed to get a stronger reaction! Even though the "change" was less drastic! At first that made no sense to me! But then I realized, it wasn't the cards that were changing it was their color! And this, though more subtle, to the audience it was more... magical! |

in 2001 I created a home-made rainbow deck to use in my performances. I literally ran hundreds of blank backed cards through my inkjet printer and made up three full decks with 52 completely different colored backs! The one rule... they ALL had to be the Bicycle back design! The next time I performed the routine, the reaction was better than EVER. I'm convinced that to the audience, it felt as magical as it did to me. |
Now, after over a decade of trying to get the SPECTRUM deck made it's finally a reality, an actual dream come true! (How apropos for a deck of cards made into a rainbow!) |
